- What are my options for a mobile site?
- Spankmo offers two ways to mobilize your content. Our platform can automatically import your video and updates from your web site. Or if you prefer we offer a simple private control panel where you can upload your videos and updates. Either way, Spankmo takes care of all the technical aspects: transcoding, hosting, streaming, content delivery network, messaging, and more.
- How do my users watch a video?
- Spankmo automatically formats your videos for each device type, so when your users visit your mobile members area they just click the "Play" button and we'll stream it right to their phone.
- What is the DRM situation?
- If you want to protect downloaded videos, we can add forward-lock DRM that lets the video play only on the handset that downloaded it.
- How much does this service cost?
- We usually work on a revenue-share basis. For qualified sites there is no up-front cost at all.
- How do you charge the end users?
- You can continue to use your current payment provider or we'll offer billing via SMS or 900 number.
- How long does it take to launch?
- Not very long. In many cases we can have you up and running on mobile devices in at least 90 countries in as little as two weeks.
- Can I have my own design?
- Sure. We offer customizable templates to match your site or bespoke design is also available.
- What is different about Spankmo compared to others offering mobile video?
- Spankmo powers your mobile site, under your own brand. We don't scrape your content and put it on someone else's site.
- Which handset types do you support?
- Pretty much everything made in the last three years or so. If it's got a data connection, we can probably deliver video to it.
- Isn't adult content restricted for iPhone applications?
- It is, big time. So Spankmo bypasses Apple and the App Store completely by using a Web application that looks and works like a regular iPhone app.
- Will users be charged by the mobile operator for using Spankmo?
- Operators don't figure into the equation at all, so you don't have to worry about their content standards or billing. Users need a data plan, that's all.
- How do I manage the video content feed?
- Spankmo will automatically pull content from your web site and make it available on mobile. You also get a control panel that lets you add and edit content yourself.
- Does it only work for 3G phones?
- It works on any phone with a data connection, including older 2.5G phones using technology like EDGE and 1xRTT. Of course, quality is better with a 3G connection.
