"He was a black man who tried with considerable success to succeed in a white world and to do so on his own terms rather than as the merely symbolical Black Man..." ~John Patrick Deveney, on Paschal Beverly Randolph, 19th century philosopher, occultist and sex magician

"“I must learn to love the fool in me, the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs & cries” ~Theodore Isaac Rubin
